President Boakai Congratulates Ireland On St. Patrick’s Day Observance

The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Ireland on the occasion commemorating St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. 
 
St. Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of St. Patrick is a cultural and religious celebration held on March 17, the traditional death date of St. Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.

In his message to his Irish counterpart, President Michael D. Higgins, the Liberian leader extended on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in his own name, sincere congratulations to the Government and people of Ireland.

“As we join you in celebrating this historic event of your national day, we are grateful for the cordial ties and cooperation that exist and continuous to flourish between our both counties,” President Boakai said. 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Boakai stressed that Ireland and Liberia have share similar engagement on the international scene such as the promotion of human rights, democracy, and adherence to the rule of law. 

President Boakai stated that it is his wish that the bilateral ties between the two counties which is characterized by cordiality and harmony will explore new avenues to further strengthens the relations, as well as continuing to cooperate in areas such as Agriculture, Education, Sanitation, Tourism, and supporting global security. 

He wished President Michael D. Higgins continued good health and happiness, and for the people of Ireland, renewed progress and prosperity.
